Honest Answers

The Questions Every Family Asks

This is one of the hardest days a pet family faces, and it usually comes with a dozen questions at once. Below are plain answers about what to do first, how cremation works, what it costs, and how we care for your pet along the way.

A Real Person, Any Hour

Call (817) 862-7000 at 2pm or 2am. A member of our family answers every call, every day of the year, holidays included.

Every Price Posted

No mystery bills. Semi-private cremation from $170, private from $220, and every other cost listed plainly on our pricing page.

Home in About 4 Days

Most families have their pet's ashes back in four days or less. We call you the moment your pet is ready.

The First Hours

Right After Your Pet Passes

What happens to my pet's body right after they pass?

Their body goes through natural changes in the first minutes and hours. Muscles relax, stiffness sets in, and a little fluid release is normal. Wrap your pet gently in a towel or blanket, keep them in a cool room, and call us whenever you are ready.

How soon should I call after my pet passes away?

Call when you feel ready, ideally within a few hours. Texas heat speeds natural changes, so sooner is better. We answer 24 hours a day at (817) 862-7000, every day of the year, so you never have to wait for morning.

Can I keep my pet at home until I am ready?

Yes. A cooler with ice packs or a refrigerated space usually gives you an extra 24 to 48 hours. Freezing is okay too if you need longer. Just tell us when you call so we can plan with you.

Do I need to see a vet before calling you?

No. If your pet passed at home from age or a known illness, call us directly. If your pet passed at a clinic, you can still choose us instead of the provider they suggest. A vet visit only makes sense if the death was unexpected and you want answers first.

Can I bury my pet in my backyard in Fort Worth?

Sometimes, but check first. City rules, HOA agreements, and leases can all limit home burial, and remains generally must be buried at least 3 feet deep and away from water. Cremation is a clean option with no permits to worry about.

Simple, From Start to Finish

How It Works, In Four Steps

Most arrangements take just a few minutes by phone or online.

1

Call or Arrange Online

Reach us at (817) 862-7000 any hour, or start online whenever you are ready. We walk you through every choice.

2

We Come to You

We pick up from homes and vet clinics across Fort Worth and the Mid-Cities, or you can bring your pet to us.

3

Cared for by Our Family

Your pet is cremated at our own Fort Worth facility by our own family. Never a third party, at any step.

4

Your Pet Comes Home

Ashes come home in the urn you chose, usually in about four days. We call the moment they are ready.

What Actually Happens

The Cremation Itself

What is private cremation, and why does it matter?

Private cremation means your pet is alone in the chamber, with no other animals present at any time. It is the only way to be certain the ashes you receive belong to your pet alone. It is the heart of what we offer.

What happens during the cremation?

Your pet is placed in the cremation chamber, which runs between 1,400 and 1,800 degrees. The process takes from about 45 minutes to a few hours depending on your pet's size. Afterward, the remaining fragments are carefully processed into the soft ash families receive.

How long until I get the ashes back?

Four days or less for most families, which is faster than most providers in the area. We call you the moment your pet is ready to come home.

What will the ashes look like?

A fine, sandy ash in light gray or off white. Small pets usually leave about half a cup to a cup, medium pets one to three cups, and large dogs three to five cups or more.

How do I know the ashes are really my pet's?

An identification tag stays with your pet through every step, from intake to return. We welcome visits and hard questions. Transparency is something we are proud of.

What kinds of pets do you cremate?

Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, ferrets, reptiles, and other small companions. If you are not sure, call us and we will help.

No question is too small.
No hour is too late.

If your question is not answered here, call us. A real member of our family picks up, day or night, and we never rush a grieving family off the phone.

Practical Things

Pickup, Visits, Urns, and Keepsakes

What are your lobby hours?

Our lobby at 1111 Haltom Road, Suite B in Fort Worth is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Phones are answered 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Can I bring my pet to you myself?

Yes. Many families prefer to bring their pet in personally. Please call ahead so we are ready to receive your pet with care.

Do you pick up from homes and vet clinics?

We do. We pick up from homes, veterinary clinics, and emergency hospitals across Fort Worth, Arlington, the Mid-Cities, and greater Tarrant County. Pickup within 15 miles of our facility is included, and farther trips are $3 per mile beyond that.

Can I make arrangements online?

Yes. You can arrange everything online at any hour if you would rather not talk on the phone. Start whenever you are ready and we take it from there.

What should I bring with my pet?

Just your contact information. You may also bring a small blanket, toy, or note to be cremated with your pet. Ask us what is appropriate. If you bought an urn already, bring it and we will use it.

What container do the ashes come home in?

Every pet comes home in a dignified container. The Premium Package includes an engraved wood urn, and our urn store carries keepsake boxes and personalized vessels if you want something special.

Can I get a paw print or fur clipping first?

Yes. We can take a paw print impression and a small fur clipping before cremation. Let us know when you call. These small keepsakes bring real comfort later.

Can I scatter my pet's ashes?

On private property, yes, with the owner's permission. Rules vary in public parks, so check with the parks department first. Many families choose a garden, a favorite trail, or an urn at home.

Cost and Choosing Well

Pricing, Payment, and Everything Else

How much does pet cremation cost?

Semi-private cremation starts at $170 for pets up to 15 pounds. Private cremation starts at $220 and is priced by weight. Premium packages with an engraved wood urn, paw print, and lock of hair start at $245. Every price is posted on our pricing page.

Do I have to use the provider my vet suggests?

No. You always have the right to choose. Many clinics partner with a specific cremation company, but nothing requires you to use them. Compare, ask questions, and pick who you trust.

What makes Precious Pets different?

We are a family operation, not a corporate chain. True private cremation, ashes home in four days or less, real people answering 24/7, and a facility you are welcome to visit. Four generations of our family have done this work.

Do you offer payment plans?

We accept CareCredit, which lets you pay over monthly installments, along with all major cards, debit, and cash. Our CareCredit page explains how it works. If money is tight, call us and we will do our best to work with your family.

What if my pet passes on a weekend or holiday?

Call any time. A real person answers around the clock, every day of the year. No one should wait until Monday to care for a beloved companion.

Can bonded pets be cremated together?

Yes. For two pets who spent their lives together, we can honor that bond and cremate them together at your request. Just tell us your wishes when you call.

Can I fly with my pet's ashes?

Usually, yes. TSA and most airlines allow cremated remains in carry-on bags if the container can pass X-ray screening. Wood and metal urns often cannot, so use a temporary plastic or cardboard container for the flight. We can provide documentation if you need it.

Do you offer at-home euthanasia?

Yes. Our at-home euthanasia service lets your pet pass peacefully at home, and we can handle the cremation afterward as one seamless arrangement, across Fort Worth and the surrounding cities.

Do you offer grief support resources?

Losing a pet is a real loss, and your grief is valid. We are not counselors, but we treat every family with patience and can point you to pet loss support groups in Fort Worth and online communities that understand.

Still Have a Question?

Ask us directly. We are here every hour of every day, and we answer with patience, honesty, and care.
